Hexagon has a straightforward yet challenging Mission, to translate complex environmental data into a common-sense story that can be understood by a wide range of individuals. Clients, regulators, citizens and other stakeholders want to know if their communities are safe and whether or not clean-up is needed.
Hexagon works toward answering these complex questions about environmental conditions and the potential impact on Public Health. We evaluate a wide range of data and provide context so that the situation can be resolved. Like any good investigator, we “follow the data” in an unbiased manner and use State-of-the-Science to unravel the story. Sometimes cleanup actions are warranted, and sometimes they are not. Getting those answers is important. It is what our clients and communities deserve.

History and Structure
Hexagon Environmental Solutions LLC was founded during 2015 by Mr. Eric M. Cherry. Mr. Cherry has 30 years of professional experience in environmental/earth sciences, geochemistry, statistics/data analysis, and public health. Prior to establishing Hexagon, Mr. Cherry has directed or participated in a wide range of projects including Brownfield Assessment and Redevelopment, Emergency Response Actions, Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment, Litigation Support and Expert Testimony, and Public Health Assessments. He has provided these services across the United States as well as internationally (Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Chile, Brazil, Columbia). In addition to contract work, Hexagon also provides pro bono services through public speaking, university lectures and professional feedback for non-profit organizations.
Hexagon meets project objectives through strategic partnerships with other environmental professionals and contractors. Hexagon has served as both a lead consultant and a sub-consultant on a variety of projects including litigation support, environmental due diligence evaluations, statistical evaluations, geochemical modeling, insurance assessment, and pro bono consultation.
Featured Case Study
Third-Party Allegation of Petroleum Contamination
Third-Party contamination (blue box) clearly has a different
composition than the two types of contamination on Client’s property.

Situation
- Client’s property did have significant petroleum contamination with dissolved phase and free product
- Adjacent property had petroleum contamination
- Adjacent property owner filed suite stating that Client was responsible for contamination on their site
Forensic Approach
- No new samples collected – only updated interpretation of analytical results
- Many of the same compounds were detected on both sites
- Composition profiles were calculated showing relative proportions of contaminants at different locations were very different
- Graphic (cartoon) illustration shows that the compositions of petroleum contamination on both sites were very different
Project Outcome
- Law Suit dropped by Third-Party based on graphic data
- No new expensive samples were required
- Legal fees and site assessment costs were avoided
- Client was able to focus on their remediation
